Hydrothermally treated vermiculites: Ability to support products for CO2 adsorption and geological implications
نویسندگان
چکیده
The proposal of this research was to obtain products with higher porosity and specific surface area than the raw vermiculite for its possible application as a support material CO2 adsorption. In addition, it proposed analyze geological implications resulting from hydrothermal treatment vermiculites in relation their genesis. Hydrothermal presence CO2, at low temperature pressure conditions, carried out two Uganda China, different behavior thermal exfoliation microwave irradiation. untreated treated samples were characterized by several techniques: X-ray diffraction (XRD) obtaining mineral composition; thermogravimetry (TG - DTG) analyzing behavior; BET isotherms textural parameters. solutions pH measuring lixiviated elements inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Vermiculite can be suitable adsorbents, based on SBET Qm values, is susceptible carbonation. produced water loss expanded replacement; consequence, amorphization occurred purer Ugandan sample, vermiculitization less pure sample China. The process indicates that origin may phlogopite.

Water‐CO2‐mineral systems: Interfacial tension, contact angle, and diffusion—Implications to CO2 geological storage
[1] The interfacial interaction between mineral surfaces and immiscible fluids determines the efficiency of enhanced oil or gas recovery operations as well as our ability to inject and store CO2 in geological formations. Previous studies have shown that the interfacial tension and contact angle in CO2‐water‐mineral systems change noticeably with fluid pressure. We compile previous results and e...
متن کاملExperimental evaluation of in situ CO2-water-rock reactions during CO2 injection in basaltic rocks: Implications for geological CO2 sequestration
[1] Deep aquifers are potential long-term storage sites for anthropogenic CO2 emissions. The retention time and environmental safety of the injected CO2 depend on geologic and physical factors and on the chemical reactions between the CO2, the aquifer water, and the host rocks. The pH buffer capacity of the aquifer water and the acid neutralization potential of the host rocks are important fact...
متن کاملThe low cost of geological assessment for underground CO2 storage: Policy and economic implications
The costs for carbon dioxide (CO2) capture and storage (CCS) in geologic formations is estimated to be $6–75/t CO2. In the absence of a mandate to reduce greenhouse gas emissions or some other significant incentive for CCS deployment, this cost effectively limits CCS technology deployment to small niche markets and stymies the potential for further technological development through learning by ...

Physicochemical properties and digestibility of hydrothermally treated waxy rice starch.
Waxy rice starch was subjected to annealing (ANN) and heat-moisture treatment (HMT). These starches were also treated by a combination of ANN and HMT. The impact of single and dual modifications (ANN-HMT and HMT-ANN) on the molecular weight (M(w)), crystalline structure, thermal properties, and the digestibility were investigated. The relative crystallinity and short-range order on the granule ...
